Remembering the Past, Ensuring the Future

Dr. Edward J. Faleski

Dr. Edward J. Faleski ’68

“Everything I ever became, I owe to Montclair State.”

“My life has been interesting and full of adventures, and I owe my best experiences to Montclair State University,” says Dr. Edward J. Faleski ’68. He has traveled to more than 30 countries and is grateful for a rewarding medical career in the military. Dr. Faleski credits his success as a radiologist to the education he received as an undergraduate student at Montclair State.

He chose to attend Montclair State because he was impressed with the quality of the faculty in the Science department. Also, it was affordable. In the late 1960s, tuition was $75 per semester. He was part of a group of students who were the first generation in their family to attend college, so affordability was a determining factor in selecting Montclair State.

As a student at Montclair State, he felt a sense of warmth and belonging. He reflects that it was like being part of a big family. Dr. Faleski attended classes Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., barely having time to eat. His professors allowed him to sneak to the back of the room so that he could have one decent meal. He spent a lot of time with his professors, who had an open-door policy. His favorite memory was that the faculty allowed him and his classmates to use the faculty lounge for group presentations and discussions.

“I owe my whole life to Montclair State University,” says Dr. Faleski. His experiences inspired him to include the University in his will. “I want to help a new generation of students to benefit through my gift.”

And he hopes that others will follow his example in supporting the University. “I hope to have the funds endowed in perpetuity, so they help many generations to come.”
